Are you unable to turn-on the Auto-Protect feature? Check the solution!


Auto-Protect is a shield that prevents your system from cyber threats by providing real time-protection. Whenever you copy, save, delete, move, and open any file, Auto-Protect checks and scans the file for the viruses injected into it. Moreover, Auto- Protect also verifies the threats whenever you start or shut down your computer. It shields your computer and monitors from any suspicious activity and even verifies the file’s type because virus alters the file’s extension.

Sometimes, Auto-Protect get grayed out, making you unable to turn it on. This can be fixed by the following methods:

Method 1- Run LiveUpdate

1. Go to the Norton interface

2. Hit the Security button in the main window

3. Now click LiveUpdate

4. After finishing Norton LiveUpdate, click OK

5. Stop LiveUpdate when a pop-up appears saying that Your Norton product has the latest protection update

6. Close all the programs

7. Restart the computer

8. If the issue is not resolved then go to the Method 2

Method 2- Run Norton Remove and Reinstall Tool

Note: Please uninstall Norton Family if it’s already been installed in your computer before you run the Norton Remove and Reinstall tool.

1. Go to the official website

2. Download the Norton Remove and Reinstall tool

3. Now locate the downloaded file

4. Double click NRnR icon

5. Check the license agreement and then click Agree

6. Hit Remove and Install

7. Click Continue or Remove

8. Now restart your computer

9. Follow the given instructions to install the Norton Product

10. After reinstallation run LiveUpdate and stop it when you find any update

11. Again restart your computer when you prompted
